"your sim died, it was not painless." This is a message from a real Sims website, if left inactive for too long. The message is written entirely in comic sans, with only the title of the faux-popup - "Grim" - being capitalized.
That's just a popup. The rest of the site is so much more. It plays a sound when it first loads, and another when you hover your mouse over the options. You need the www. at the start of the URL - you'll get an error otherwise. And the activities... so many activities.
"www.the-sims-y2k.com" is suspected to be a teaser for the upcoming re-releases of The Sims 1 and 2 - and they're only "suspected" because technically it's not confirmed yet, even though they're basically confirmed. Where most companies keep cards close to their chest, EA keeps dropping them.
A bit of nostalgia-bait seems like the perfect way to tease an upcoming nostalgic release, and EA has knocked it out of the park here. PCGamer called the site "atrociously accurate" to the y2k style, and the more you browse the site, the more true the statement seems.
What's on...
