It seems that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will come with a huge restriction.

Nintendo has confirmed that New Horizons will allow only one island per console. Up to eight players can inhabit an island, but those who are sharing a system will not be able to have an island per account. If a player wants their own island, they will need their own Switch, as well their own copy of the game.

"Up to 8 players with registered accounts on a Nintendo Switch console can live on one shared island, and up to four residents of one island can play simultaneously on one console," Nintendo of Australia's website states. "Please note: only one island can exist per Nintendo Switch console, irrespective of the number of user accounts registered to or copies of the game used on one console. One Nintendo Switch and one copy of the game is required for each unique island."

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is bringing many of the mechanics that we have seen in previous iterations of the series. This includes, gardening, fishing, and interacting with NPCs that come to live on your piece of land. Players will able to customize their home, character, and island however they wish. There will be a new crafting system in New Horizons. By using materials that are found on their island, players will be able to craft anything from furniture to tools.

It has recently been announced that an Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch will release alongside New Horizons. The Switch features pastel blue and green Joy-Cons, and comes with a dock that features Tom Nook. The console also features a cute pattern across its back. The Switch will run gamers $299.99, but will not come with the game. You can check out the custom Switch here.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release for the Nintendo Switch on March 20th.
