As a franchise, Red Dead Redemption may be pretty old, with the first game, in particular, set to celebrate its 15-year anniversary in May. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 is considerably younger, having only been out for six years. Still, somehow, the first Red Dead Redemption barely made it to PC in 2024.

That said, for as legendary a franchise as Red Dead is, chock-full of memorable quotes and unique characters, there are still discoveries being made by fans. In the most recent case of fans discovering something that many did not know, Jack Marston's real name.

As first discovered in the Red Dead Redemption subreddit, a fan that was going through the game manual of the original Red Dead Redemption realized that Jack is actually named John Marston Jr. Of course, he goes by a nickname, AKA Jack.

Remember when video games used to have manuals? How else would we find out Jack's real name?
