Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's guns are a joke, with you as the punchline. Go ahead and flail around, trying to get that shot on target.

You'll need a degree in chronomancy to predict when it's a good time to commit to the shot. Even if you're fortunate enough to hit the target, you'll still have to deal with that reload.

It's all by design. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 values its authentic historical experience, and at that point in time, the idea of using a gun in single combat was, well, laughable. And the developers at Warhorse Studios chose to lean into that fact.

"Just the idea that someone goes through the forest, he's attacked by bandits, and he takes out a boomstick—that's ridiculous." says the game's senior game designer, Ondřej Bittner, in an interview with PC Gamer.

It's an opportunistic kind of game design, knowing when the cards line up just right to create a fun experience, and making an active choice to lean into something silly.
