A Back To The Future Game Is In Development, Says Co-Creator

It looks like Back to the Future has a game in development, according to series co-creator Bob Gale. The sci-fi franchise has long been dormant since the third and final movie, Back to the Future Part III, released in 1990. That said, its cultural impact cannot be overstated.

As first spotted by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, Gale, in an interview with Cleveland.com (paywalled), shared that a video game is in the works.

“We’ve got a shot at a new video game based on Back to the Future,” Gale said when asked about the future of the franchise.

He added, “I don’t want to tell you any more than that because I’m not allowed to, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Knock on wood that it will happen.” To this point, it's unclear the scope of the project, or when it would potentially be released. For what it's worth, both Marty McFly and Doc Emmet were part of the 2024 Funko Fusion game, though it's likely that Gale is referencing another project altogether.
