Update: PSN services are back online as of February 2 at 8 pm EST.
Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) is starting to come back online following a 20-hour outage, as users report that connections are starting to return at a slow pace. Though Sony has not commented further on the PSN outage since problems began on February 7, the company is continuing its work to bring the service back up quickly.
Around 6:00 PM Eastern on February 7, PSN users reported connectivity issues with Sony's online service. Players were unable to log into online titles such as Helldivers 2 or play games that require online verification with Sony's services. A few hours after the outage began, Sony released a statement that confirmed it was investigating the outage and working to restore service but did not offer any details about what caused it. Understandably, PSN users expressed frustration with Sony's lack of communication following the initial message.
