Following a PSN outage that nearly lasted for 24 hours, PlayStation is adding five free PlayStation Plus days for anyone already subscribed to the service.

All the way back in 2011, PlayStation had one of its darkest moments when a cyber attack caused the PlayStation Network to go offline for 23 whole days. We've thankfully never seen anything quite like that in the 14 years since then, but things were starting to look a little familiar yesterday.

For reasons we're still not completely aware of, PSN was down for more than 20 hours yesterday, with users completely unable to login, play online, view the Store, and much more. Due to most games needing their licenses verified to play, the Network being down for even one day compared to 23 was a very tense time, especially with PlayStation's lack of communication.

Mercifully, PlayStation managed to finally sort out the issues after around 21 hours of PSN being offline. Many gamers were wondering what kind of compensation they might get for such a big outage (especially on the weekend, the busiest time for most), and the studio has now confirmed what's in store for everyone affected....
