Borderlands 4 just got a new trailer at PlayStation's State of Play, giving us a more in-depth look at the gameplay. The trailer also confirms the release date: September 23, 2025.
As well as the release date, the trailer gives us our best look at the gameplay yet. This includes a lot of shots of the first-person gameplay, as well as a bunch of new weapons we can use to mow down enemies - of which there will apparently be "billions" in the final game.
Taking a look at this gameplay preview, the sequel is undoubtedly very Borderlands. While gameplay is certainly striking the right tone, we've already been told to expect less "toilet humour" this time around, so the jokes might have changed with the times.
The release date reveal comes just two months after the game's big unveil at The Game Awards last December. It served as a good pallet cleanser for the failure of the film adaptation, which was a miss with fans and critics alike, while also bombing at the box office. Needless to say, fans will be hoping that Borderlands 4 makes up for all of this.
