The Xbox Series X/S port of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has swapped out the Ape Escape minigame with one involving a popular Konami owned character.

In the original PlayStation 2 version of Metal Gear Solid 3, the Snake vs. Monkey minigame pits Big Boss against creatures from the Ape Escape series. This minigame caused issues with the ports and remasters of Snake Eater, as Sony owns Ape Escape, so any multi-platform version had to scrap Snake vs. Monkey.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a new remake that’s coming out on August 28, 2025. As the game is multiplatform, many assumed that Snake vs. Monkey wouldn’t make the cut, but it appeared initially in a leaked trailer, which was shown during the February 2025 State of Play.

Once the State of Play was over, Konami uploaded an Xbox-themed trailer on its YouTube channel, revealing that Snake vs. Monkey is going to be replaced with something different on Microsoft’s platform.
