While the X-COM sci-fi strategy franchise might not be as popular as it once was, it is still somewhat active. Could the franchise's creator, Julian Gollop, returning give the franchise the spark it needs?
One thing's for sure, though, Goop is keen on going back to the franchise he created.
X-Com Creator Is Fine Being Known As The "X-COM Guy"
Speaking to Eurogamer as part of an interview regarding Goop's new action-RTS hybrid, Chip 'n Clawz vs. The Brainiods, the developer was asked on a hypothetical return to the franchise.
Goop simply stated, "Yeah, sure. I'm still waiting for the call from Sid," he joked. Goop was referring to Sid Meier, the boss of Firaxis Games. While Goop is open to returning, he's not confident that he'll be able to top what they did with X-COM, adding, "as we know, turn-based came back, X-COM came back and so you know, I'm quite proud of what we managed to do then. Can I ever beat that? Well probably not, no,"
