We now know when exactly The Wonderful 101 Remastered will be released.
PlatinumGames has announced that The Wonderful 101 Remastered will release on May 19th. The game will then come to Europe on May 22nd, and the Japan on June 11th. To go along with the release date announcement, a new trailer was released for the game. The trailer shows off a good amount of gameplay, and also gives gamers a glimpse of the title's enhanced graphics. We get a look at the game's new user interface, which had to be updated since the original version of the game made use of the Wii U's dual screens. There will be refined controls for all of the platforms that the game is releasing for, as well as some rebalancing. You can check out the trailer here.
The Wonderful 101 Remastered was funded through Kickstarter. PlatinumGames was originally aiming for $50,000, but ended with a whopping $2.1 million. Stretch goals that were reached included a Time Attack mode, a remixed soundtrack, and two new side-scrolling adventures named Luka's First Mission and Luka's Second Mission. Producer Atushi Inaba stated that the PlatinumGames started the campaign in order to gauge fan interest. The campaign saw over 30,000 backers, showing that the gaming community does want to see a re-release of the Wii U title.
The Wonderful 101 was originally released for the Wii U in 2013. The game has players take control of one hundred heroes at once, and has them combine into powerful weapons such as a sword, whip, and gauntlet. The heroes are also able to transform into useful forms, such as a bridge and a kite. Though the controls will be different due to the lack of a second screen, the Switch version of The Wonderful 101 Remastered will still feature touchscreen controls.
The Wonderful 101 Remastered will release on May 19th. The game will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
