One team of modders is doing that as they're working on a functional build of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the Sega Dreamcast.
The team successfully brought Grand Theft Auto 3 to the Sega Dreamcast and is doing the same for Vice City. This morning, they uploaded a teaser of the game's alpha footage.
As an early build, it has several technical issues, notably a lack of audio. Thankfully, one of the team's developers uploaded a snippet of footage with audio.
Grand Theft Auto 3 Was Originally Developed for the Dreamcast
In many ways, GTA 3 and Vice City's modding onto the Dreamcast is a sign of the games coming full circle. Former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij said the game was initially developed for the Dreamcast before being switched to the PlayStation 2. The reason? Commercial sales. The Dreamcast was a notorious and unfortunate commercial failure, while the PS2 is one of the best-selling consoles ever.
