New details have been revealed about the upcoming Magic: The Gathering crossover with Marvel’s Spider-Man, including a shocking reveal about how it will be missing one of the most popular deck types in the game.
Magic: The Gathering is primarily a game about pulling rare cards from Boosters and trading with other players. There are products that consist of entire pre-made decks, including dual Starter Decks that let two people immediately pick up the game.
One of the most popular products are Commander Decks, which are fronted by a powerful character. These have been increasingly common with the Magic: The Gathering crossover products, such as the upcoming Final Fantasy set, which will have four Commander decks.
In 2025, Magic: The Gathering will feature a set focused around Marvel’s Spider-Man. According to MTG Rocks, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks revealed during an investors call that the Spider-Man set won’t have any Commander Decks.
