It's safe to say that Monster Hunter Wilds has had a tumultuous start to life on Steam. Even before the game launched, the beta drew in gargantuan numbers but faced backlash due to serious performance issues. That was very much the story for the game's official launch, too.

You don't have to be unsettled by them speaking English.

Shortly after it went live, the game entered Steam's top ten highest concurrent player counts of all time, later climbing to seventh when it broke 1.2 million users. The problem is, months after the troublesome betas, the game still faced some major performance issues, leading it to launch to "Mixed" reviews on the Valve-owned platform.

As we write this out, Monster Hunter Wilds currently sits with 47 percent positive reviews on Steam, with SteamDB suggesting it's closer to 42 percent. Its negative reviews are a casualty of its poor performance.

One reviewer wrote, "This game is absolutely amazing - but has the worst optimisation I've ever seen. I understand that new games are becoming more demanding, and people are expected to upgrade, but this is absurd."
