Players can go up against each other to see whose build and skills would prevail over the other. However, in more recent times, Elden Ring's PvP mode has become plagued by cheaters, much to the annoyance of the community.
It's not that these cheaters are merely upping their stats, or using abilities in ways they're not supposed to; some of them are literally breaking the game for regular players, and in extreme cases, even ruining their save files.
