Sonic Unleashed is an important part of the series' history, giving us the core gameplay loop that is still being used in 3D Sonic games to this day. However, there is no way to legitimately play the game on PC, despite many other Sonic games getting ports over the years.
Now, a fan has not only made the game playable on PC, but may have given us the best way to experience Sonic Unleashed yet. Unleashed Recompiled has been put together by a programmer going by the name of Skyth online, and works as an unofficial PC port of the game. It even comes with modern quality of life features, like an unlocked framerate and ultrawide monitor support.
Looking at the trailer put together by Skyth, this looks just like the real deal. They've even gone to the effort of implementing achievements into the game, so you're not missing out on any of the features from the console releases.
Fans are overwhelmingly impressed, and it's easy to see why. This programmer has managed to throw together what many have been calling on Sega to release for years, and has put it online for free.
