As more and more video games make the jump to current-gen-only releases, including the recently released Monster Hunter Wilds or the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, it appears that Call of Duty isn't quite ready for that commitment.
And it’ll probably be because of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Earlier this week, it was reported that this year's COD is aiming to release on both PS4 and Xbox One. It's not definite, as Insider Gaming's sources couldn't confirm a firm release, but it is in development. That particular development has incensed Call of Duty fans, with many taking to Reddit to air out their frustrations.
"Wish they'd move the **** on so we aren't held back by 8th gen hardware," a user commented on Reddit. While it's impossible to say how much COD has been "held back" by being on last-gen hardware, it is worth noting that the PS3 and Xbox 360 only received three titles post PS4/Xbox One launch.
