A new Max Raid Battle event has started in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and it involves baby Pokemon.

Nintendo has stated that starting today, trainers in Pokemon Sword and Shield will see little Pokemon more often in the Wild Area's Max Raid Battles. Until April 15th at 4:59 p.m. PST, players will be more likely to encounter Dynamax versions of Ditto, Pichu, Cleffa, Togepi, Tyrogue, Wynaut, Budew, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Munchlax, Riolu, Mantyke, and Toxel in Max Raid Battles. Defeating one of these Pokemon could reward players with useful items such as Destiny Knots or Everstones.

The baby Pokemon Max Raid Battle event is not the only one going on at the moment. Until April 27th at 4:59 p.m. PST, players will have the chance of running into Gigantamax versions of Charizard, Garbodor, Copperajah and Duraludon. Outside of the special Max Raid Battles that are taking place right now, Gigantamax Pokemon are very rare, making this a good time for trainers to add them to their collection.

Two expansions are coming to Sword and Shield later this year. The first, entitled Isle of Armor, will release in June. The second expansion, entitled The Crown Tundra, will release in the fall. Players can expect over two hundred Pokemon to come to Sword and Shield through the DLC. This includes new Legendaries, new Gigantamax forms, and new Galarian forms. The expansion pass will set gamers back $29.99. While new Pokemon will be brought to the games through Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, new Pocket Monsters will be introduced to Sword and Shield through updates. One of these new Pokemon is Zarude, who is a Grass / Dark type. It is mot known how Zarude will make its way into Sword and Shield. It is known that the Pokemon will play a big part of the upcoming movie, Pokemon the Movie: Coco, which will release in Japan later this year.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
