Rockstar Expands With Aussie Studio—What Are They Working On?

Rockstar Games has officially acquired Video Games Deluxe, its long-time Sydney-based partner. Now rebranded as Rockstar Australia, this new studio joins the likes of Rockstar Toronto and Rockstar North in shaping the future of the Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto franchises.

Rockstar’s Head of Publishing, Jennifer Kolbe, officially welcomed the team in a recent press release, while Video Games Deluxe head Brendan McNamara called it an “honor” to see the partnership evolve into something even bigger.

This expansion comes against the backdrop of a looming GTA 6, so there’s a lot of speculation on what it has in store. With Brendan being L.A. Noire's original director, what stops a sequel or spiritual successor from happening? Or is this all about bolstering GTA 6?

A Familiar Face Joins The Rockstar Family

The two studios have been collaborating for over a decade, with Video Games Deluxe having a hand in titles like L.A. Noire VR port and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
