It's been 26 years since there was a new Streets of Rage sequel, but this month players can return to the series. Streets of Rage 4 has been dated for April 30.

Streets of Rage 4 is a direct sequel to the 1994 SEGA Genesis game, Streets of Rage 3 and features a modern-retro style meant to hearken back to the series popular original run. The game allows for four-player local co-op or two-player online co-op. Streets of Rage 4 will also feature a Battle Mode, which is something longtime fans will recognize. Battle Mode previously appeared in Streets of Rage 2 and its sequel and offers a PvP experience inside the side-scrolling beat 'em up. You can see the story and Battle Mode alike in the new trailer below.

Streets of Rage 4 returns the series' original heroes like Axel and Blaze while adding new characters as well. For the series' biggest fans, co-developers Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games, the latter of whom developed the spiritual descendant Streets of Fury, there will also be more legacy content in the game, including original pixel art characters and the soundtracks from the first two games in the Streets of Rage series. The game's original music has been composed by Olivier Deriviere, composer of such games as A Plague Tale, Remember Me, and the upcoming Dying Light 2. Additional music has also been contributed by the series' tenured composers Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima.

Streets of Rage 4 will launch simultaneously on April 30 across PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. It will also arrive on launch day in Xbox Game Pass for subscribers. Otherwise, it will debut at $24.99.
