Split Fiction is already a huge success right out of the gate. In just one day, it's beaten Hazelight Studios' previous hit, It Takes Two, in at least one metric, as it scoops up more than double its concurrent player count on Steam.

In fact, Split Fiction is close to tripling It Takes Two's record. Right now, Split Fiction's concurrent player record on Steam is 197,434, according to SteamDB. This is opposed to 71,039 for It Takes Two, which was already a huge success for Hazelight.

This was highlighted by ResetEra user AshenOne, who compared the performance of Hazelight's latest two releases. The concurrent player record has actually already risen since the post was made, so there's a very real chance that it will break the 200,000 players mark, either today or over the weekend.

Opening to numbers like this would be impressive for any game, but especially a narrative-driven title that can only be played in two-player, meaning that everyone who's interested in playing has to find someone to partner up with.
