Super Mega Baseball 3 has finally been given a firm launch date and you won't have to wait long to play it. After a minor delay pushed it out of April, the game is now set to play ball on May 13. It will launch at $44.99 for Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and Steam.
Metelhead Software has been self-piublishing the Super Mega Baseball series since 2014 with the previous two entries now available widely across all major platforms. The latest in the series is set to introduce some of the most in-demand sports game features to date, like a Franchise mode with trading, free agents, and retiring players, as well as deeper online play.
There will also be a free demo that allows players to play online choosing from a select number of teams. This demo doubles as promotion for the game but, rather smartly, it also helps fill multiplayer lobbies so matchmaking goes faster.
Super Mega Baseball 3 was originally eyeing an April launch, but Metalhead cautioned that the work-from-home conditions the whole world is facing right now may slow the final tweaks by a brief window. As it turns out, the studio was right, and now it's coming in mid-May, which should still be plenty early for a fanbase that is largely without any baseball this year anyway.
In addition to the release date news, Metalhead has shared a new walkthrough highlighting the changes to on the field gameplay including tweaks to batting, pitching, and fielding.
Super Mega Baseball 3 arrives on May 13.
