Just a few days ago, we reported on how Hazelight's Split Fiction became the first Electronic Arts-published game to average 90 in over ten years.
While that is impressive enough, Split Fiction managed to create history for EA that massive multiplayer franchises like Titanfall, Battlefield, and more couldn't accomplish.
Split Fiction Now Has The Record For Most Concurrent Players For A Premium Game
As of March 8, Split Fiction is now the sole record holder of EA's highest concurrent player count for a premium (le. paid) game!
On SteamDB, the game is listed as reaching a peak of 254,756 gamers playing it at the same time. This doesn't even factor in the console numbers, which should be at least at par with this or possibly more.
DICE's Battlefield V, released in 2018, was the former record holder for the highest concurrent player count for a premium game by EA. At its peak, it had 116,000 concurrent players on Steam. This was a time when cross-play wasn't even a thing, so who knows how high it would have gone up if cross-platform games decided to buy the game to squad up even if they're on different platforms.
