Doom: The Dark Ages' project director has revealed that the game will have an enemy that's "similar" to Eternal's infamous Marauder, although it sounds like he'll be a lot more tolerable.

Both Doom 2016 and its sequel Doom Eternal are widely regarded as two of the best first-person shooters of the last few console generations. While id's Doom reboots are both mostly beloved, it's fair to say that Doom Eternal didn't make quite the same impact on most players as the first game did, which is mostly down to some annoying smaller issues.

The end of exclusives could mean the beginning of something else.

The underwater sections, overreliance on platforming sections, and "abhorrent" ammo count are just a few examples of why Eternal is a bit of a marmite sequel, but the biggest issue that most players had with the game was one of its bosses - the Marauder. To this day, there's not a Doom enemy who's as hated as him, but that might change with The Dark Ages.

All of the hatred is mostly down to the fact that the Marauder completely changes the pace of Eternal's combat and requires your full attention for his varied moveset...
