Rogues are ridiculously versatile in Baldur's Gate 3, able to help out both in and out of combat in a variety of ways. Personally, I will never recover from the bard/rogue hybrid build I created for Astarion, which carried every single fight for me. Those rogue levels are just too powerful.

Now, a fan has come up with a way to make rogues even more essential in your party. The homebrew surgeon subclass mod lets a rogue both deal damage and help their teammates, giving you a non-magical alternative to healing abilities.

"The Surgeon uses their skill in anatomy to maim foes with surgical precision," explains the mod's creator, The Wailing Bard. "They have an expanded crit range and can replace their Sneak Attack damage with a collection of debuffs."

However, as the name would suggest, surgeons are also there to support their teammates. "The Surgeon can also use their Cunning Action to administer healing potions, by which I mean toss them at high-speed velocity. Fret not: potions thrown this way do not deal damage to allies, and I am assured this is a standard way to prescribe medicine."
