Platinum Games has announced that physical copies The Wonderful 101: Remastered have been delayed.
On The Wonderful 101's Kickstarter page (via GoNintendo), it was revealed that physical copies of the title have been delayed due to COVID-19. The update states that backer rewards are being given the highest priority, but due to distribution issues, backers who chose the physical copy of The Wonderful 101 will receive it after the game's initial release date. According to Platinum's Twitter account, the new store dates for the physical version of The Wonderful 101 are now June 30th in North America, and July 3rd for Europe. The digital release of the game is still set for May 19th.
As an apology for the delay of The Wonderful 101, all backers of the physical version of the game will receive a code for the PC version of the game, allowing those gamers the ability to play the game on its release date.
Those who backed the digital version of the game should start receiving their codes starting May 7th. Platinum states that due to the number of codes that have to be sent out, it will take some time for all backers to receive them. However, the developer is working to make sure that all digital backers get their codes ahead of the game's retail release.
It was also stated that those who pledged for backers rewards may receive them after the title's retail release. Platinum stated that their estimate to start shipping rewards is late June.
"The health and safety of everyone involved in getting the Wonderful 101: Remastered into stores was a key factor in our decision to delay [the] release of the game, in addition to store closures and the many restrictions consumers and businesses are currently facing," publisher Nighthawk Interactive stated (via Gamespot). "We're looking forward to delivering this action-packed experience to stores from June 30."
The Wonderful 101: Remastered will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
