A new update is coming to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and will include a new playable character.

The latest Bloodstained update will add Zangetsu to the game as a playable character. Once players have beaten Bloodstained and obtained the "Good Ending," they will be able to play the game again as Zangetsu. Since Zangetsu is not a shardholder, he will not absorb enemy abilities as Miriam did. Instead, he will use his sword, as well as special abilities that consume MP. Playing as Zangetsu should be a different experience than playing as Miriam, as Zangetsu will focus more on fast-paced combat. Consumables, equipment, crafting, treasure chests, quests, and story cutscenes will not be available when playing as Zangetsu.

Also coming in Bloodstained's latest update is the Randomizer. The Randomizer allows players to adjust eight different parameters in order to change up the Bloodstained experience. Players will be able to save the seed of their randomized game in order to keep it for reference or to share with friends. The game will keep track of how long it takes a player to complete a random game, allowing gamers to compete for the fastest completion.

The eight parameters that can be altered include the Goal of the game, which will determine the win condition of a seed. Players can adjust Key items, choosing which items will be required to complete a playthrough, and will be able to shuffle where Key Items show up. Save / Warp Rooms can be shuffled, as well as Items and Enemy Drops. Quest Rewards can be shuffled, while the Shop and Crafting can be altered. You can see full details on the Randomizer here

Bloodstained's new patch will release on May 7th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The update will come to the Nintendo Switch at the end of May or beginning of June. The date will be announced once it is confirmed.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
