Assassin's Creed Shadows is going to be a make or break game for Ubisoft. After back-to-back high profile failures in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws, the studio realised that they needed to get this one right. Add to that the discourse around Yasuke's origins, and it's an uphill battle for them.
Despite Ubisoft's supposedly best intentions with delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows, it may not be enough to rescue it from its likely result.
Perhaps that's why Shadows saw multiple delays in order to add further polish to the game and ensure everything else was spot on. This delay has also given Ubisoft the time to work on other aspects surrounding the game, and has perhaps given the devs enough time to allow Ubisoft to reverse its decision of Steam Deck compatibility on launch. As it stands, Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available on Steam Deck at launch.
