Earlier this week, gamers were stunned by leaked footage of an AI clone of the character Aloy, from the hit PlayStation Horizon series. Although the technology was surprising, most of us were just shocked to see such a prominent gaming studio have a full display of AI character technology.
Ashly Burch, the actress behind Aloy who is also currently on strike with SAG-AFTRA, gave her own poignant take on Instagram regarding the AI clone/strike situation.
To be fair, this technology only appears to be a meager tech demo, and there is no evidence that the software will be used in any upcoming project. Still, seeing such a clunky-looking AI clone was a surprise, especially considering the massive situation regarding actor-focused AI implementation.
Around the same time this demo leaked, SAG-AFTRA released a statement about the current acting strike against game companies. The statement highlighted points such as the many “alarming loopholes that will leave our members vulnerable to A.I. abuse.”
