The Wait For InZoi Just Caused One Game To Reach More Players Than It's Ever Had

InZoi has been dubbed the "Sims Killer". Its hyper-detailed creation options, excessive death scenarios, free expansions, and immersive world have seen it propel to the top of Steam's most wishlisted and bestseller charts.

Krafton called it an "unintended bug."

While, naturally, you might consider this a fatal blow for The Sims, a series that has been around since the early 2000s, it's been far from that, with The Sims 4 having its best spell ever on Steam.

Since its launch on Steam in 2020, six years after its retail launch, The Sims 4 has maintained a pretty consistent player count. From around October 2022, the game has averaged between 28,000 and 32,000 concurrent players each month, a respectable number for a 10+-year-old game.

It seems, though, that the wait for InZoi had The Sims players itching to get creative, as in February 2025, it had a higher average player count than any previous month on record.
