Earlier today, Nintendo delighted fans with its big Switch 2 showcase, revealing new details on titles we already knew about, while sprinkling in some exciting new game announcements. Mario Kart World was one game featured, which will be the next installment in the franchise, and a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2.
There was a lot of excitement and buzz coming off of the Direct, but Nintendo has managed to thoroughly squash it by revealing just how much we're going to have to pay to play Mario Kart World. If you want to buy Mario Kart World on its own, it will set you back $80, which makes it the first game to charge that price in today's industry.
That on its own would have been enough to rile up some Nintendo fans, but the matter has now been made worse, as it seems as though Nintendo will start charging more money for physical games, starting with the Nintendo Switch 2. If you want a physical copy of Mario Kart World, you're looking at parting with $90 instead.
