Infinity Ward is cracking down on players with offensive usernames.

On Twitter, the Call of Duty developer stated that they are have been working on taking down usernames that are deemed offensive and hate-oriented. The developer states that they are issuing thousands of daily bans on players using such names, and that they are implementing new measures to help make sure that players who use offensive names are banned.

"There is no place for racist content in our game," Infinity Ward tweeted. "This is an effort we began with launch and we need to do a better job. We're issuing thousands of daily bans of racist and hate-oriented names. But we know we have to do more...

"We apologize to our players. This is our commitment to you, our fans, thank you."

Infinity Ward listed a number of the upcoming measures that they will be implementing into their games in order to combat toxic players names. This includes adding additional resources to monitor and ID racist content, as well as increasing permanent bans to root out repeat offenders. The developer is also adding additional in-game reporting systems, and adding filters as well as greater restrictions on name changes. Finally, they will be evaluating in-game improvements in order to make it easier to report offensive names.

It was announced recently that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season 4 has been delayed in solidarity with the protests that are going on at this time. The new Season was set to release on June 2nd, but was cancelled last minute. Infinity Ward stated that this is not the time to release the new Season, but instead that its "time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard." There has been no announcement on when we can expect the new Season for Modern Warfare to drop.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
