Over a decade ago, the renowned director Hidetaka Miyazaki stood at a crossroads where he had to give up the directorial role for Dark Souls 2 so he could instead focus on Bloodborne, an ambitious gothic Soulsborne title that has stayed locked behind the doors of exclusivity ever since.
Today, the now president of FromSoftware is possibly getting déjà vu as he stands at the same crossroads again, except this time it's for Elden Ring: Nightreign and The Duskbloods, a Switch 2 exclusive announced at the latest Nintendo Direct.
Revealed in the Creator's Voice Blog by Nintendo, Mr. Miyazaki is officially going to direct The Duskbloods for the upcoming handheld console. He reveals new details about the title, which has started to make me feel Nightreign is more of a consolation prize for players on the other platforms.
Despite being a spin-off of his most successful franchise, Elden Ring: Nightreign seems to be officially out of the director's creative limelight, as all the attention is now diverted to The Duskbloods and ensuring its success, which is eerily similar to what happened all those years ago with Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne.
