According to a social media post, some cards from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering crossover set with Final Fantasy have leaked due to an early shipment. The Magic: The Gathering cards in question are from the Final Fantasy Starter Kit, which features Final Fantasy 7 lead characters Cloud and Sephiroth, among other franchise characters.

In October 2024, Wizards of the Coast announced that the Final Fantasy franchise would join other brands like Assassin's Creed and Marvel's Spider-Man as part of Magic: The Gathering's ongoing Universes Beyond expansion series. The Final Fantasy booster set will come with four Commander Decks featuring popular protagonists Tidus, Cloud, Terra, and Y'shtola, along with dastardly villains like Kefka, Sephiroth, and Emet-Selch. The Final Fantasy franchise may not have a busy 2025 ahead, but the upcoming Magic: The Gathering collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Square Enix will fully launch on June 13.
