The Nintendo Switch 2 might be changing many things, but one disgusting aspect of the original system is being retained. Nintendo has confirmed that the cartridges will keep something that made them difficult for kids to swallow.

As a family-friendly company, Nintendo knows that many young kids play its systems, so it has to avoid pieces that are too small, as children could potentially consume them. Luckily, this wasn’t a problem with game cartridges for many generations, as they were massive, but they started getting a lot smaller during the Nintendo DS era.

When the Nintendo Switch rolled around and Nintendo moved away from compact disc-sized physical units for games, it needed something to make the new Switch cartridges unappealing for kids to put in their mouths. Takuhiro Dohta, the Senior Director at Nintendo EPD’s Programming Management, confirmed in an interview with Gamespot that the Switch 2 is bringing the feature back.
