Square Enix has re-ignited the hopes of Final Fantasy 9 fans after making a social media post that features a quote from the ending sequence of Final Fantasy 9.
The X (formerly Twitter) post features an image that reads "My memories will be part of the sky" is a quote spoken by the character Vivi as he bids farewell to the party, reflecting on his legacy and the events of the game. The post is captioned with, "If you know, you know", accompanied by a crying emoji.
Rumours of a Final Fantasy 9 remake in the vein of the Final Fantasy 7 remake project have been swirling for years. The usually reliable leaker NateTheHate added fuel to the fire a couple of months ago by revealing that both the Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy Tactics remakes remain in active development, but we are unlikely to see either released before the end of 2025.
