Nintendo has released a statement confirming that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be delayed from April 9 to an unknown date in Canada. This has been done to align with the pre-order date in the United States, which was delayed due to Donald Trump's global trade tariffs and the resulting "evolving market conditions" (thanks, MobileSyrup).

"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not start on April 9, 2025, to align with the timing of pre-orders to be determined in the United States," the statement reads. "Nintendo will provide updated information at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025, is unchanged."

This follows an announcement last week that the pre-order date in the United States would be delayed "in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions." Prospective Canadian Switch 2 buyers hoping to avoid being dragged down by their United States counterparts will be sorely disappointed by this news.
