A new Kingdom Hearts rhythm game is on the way.

Square Enix has revealed a new Kingdom Hearts rhythm game: Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. The game was shown off with a trailer, which can be seen here. The trailer shows characters from the series, such as Sora and Riku, following a track attacking enemies in sync with the rhythm of the songs being played. The levels were based off of worlds that Sora visited throughout the series' history, including the worlds of Aladdin and Hercules. The trailer also showed what seemed to be a boss fight, as well as a level with a cutscene playing in the background. There will be a number of different modes in the game, including online battles. The game will feature 140 tracks for players to delve into, as well as a number of guest Disney characters who will help Sora take out Heartless to the beat.

The second half of the trailer for Melody of Memory showed that the game will have some sort of story, and that it will focus on Kairi. Not many details were given, though the trailer does tease that it has something to do with Kingdom Hearts III

"Many characters from the Kingdom Hearts series appear as playable characters!" Melody of Memory's official website states (translation via PlayStation LifeStyle). "Depending on the stage, Disney characters will appear as guests and lend you their strength. The game features a massive catalog of over 140 songs, including music from the Kingdom Hearts series, Disney, and more. Enjoy rhythm-based action through unforgettable music. There are four player modes including online battles."

Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime this year. This will be the first Kingdom Hearts game to release on the Switch.
