With the Nintendo Switch 2 coming this summer and GTA 6 potentially launching in the fall, there will be a lot of competition for 2025's highest-rated game. However, a new indie puzzler has just registered a higher review score than any other game so far this year, knocking Split Fiction off the top spot.
That new indie puzzler is Blue Prince. Developed by Dogubomb and launching tomorrow, April 10, Blue Prince is currently sitting on a 91 on OpenCritic. That lofty aggregate score makes it the best game of 2025 at this point. Even though we're less than a third of the way through the year, that's still pretty impressive considering some of the heavyweights that have already launched.
If you're a fan of Lorelei and the Laser Eyes or Animal Well, Blue Prince will enthrall and frustrate you in equal measure.
Monster Hunter Wilds and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 were the joint leaders at the end of February, each of them settling on a score of 89.
