Microsoft has officially confirmed the next Xbox Games Showcase 2025, and it’s not Call of Duty, or Starfield in the spotlight this year. Instead, Xbox will air a dedicated Direct for Obsidian’s long-awaited sci-fi sequel, The Outer Worlds 2, after the main showcase.
According to the official announcement from Xbox Wire, the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will go live globally on Sunday, June 8, at 10AM PT / 1PM ET.
Having The Outer Worlds 2 in the limelight this year marks a clear shift in both Xbox and Obsidian’s strategy that elevates the RPG to flagship status, replacing what was once Bethesda’s domain.
Xbox Games Showcase 2025 Gameplay Reveal
The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will include brand-new gameplay, developer commentary, and internal insight from the team at Obsidian. Devs remain tight-lipped on the game’s release window, but the timing lines up with recent speculation about a late 2025 or early 2026 launch.
