We got a preview of the changes coming in the 8.7.0 patch today, and as expected, they are centered around updating existing systems to make them better in some way. In fact, this may be the most QoL-focused patch yet, with only a small handful of changes to actual gameplay features. Perhaps that’s for the best, as the gameplay devs are probably busy trying to figure out how to fix new Killer The Ghoul before every Survivor main uninstalls the game.
The changes to daily challenges and archive challenges are the most noteworthy part of today’s dev update. There’s a new “Quests” system that’s replacing the much-maligned Daily Rituals, and the Rift is getting more levels plus a final tier that is now repeatable. The new Quests menu will centralize all of the various “Do X to earn Y bloodpoints” challenges in one place, including both dailies and Rift quests. The Archives will remain as a place to check out the lore (which has been unlocked for all players), and the old challenges will still be available for players who want to do them.
