Ahead of its release last month, InZoi was dubbed 'The Sims killer', and it still might become that, but the early signs for the game have been mixed. The game sold over a million copies within its first week, but the game also helped The Sims 4, propelling it to its highest player count in Steam history.
Krafton called it an "unintended bug."
While The Sims 4's player count headed in one direction, InZoi's went the opposite, with the game losing a staggering amount of players in its first couple of weeks.
It's not unusual for a game to lose players in its first few weeks. In fact, I'd wager 99 percent of games do, as players figure out whether they like what they're playing, potentially completing the game and moving on in that timeframe. But InZoi's drop has been drastic.
On its launch day on March 28, according to SteamDB, InZoi hit a peak concurrent player count of 87,377 — not bad. Fast-forward two weeks, and yesterday, the game capped out at 12,950 players, a drop of 85 percent.
