It has been revealed that a new Crash Bandicoot game will be releasing later this year.

Sony has announced Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, which will release this October. A gameplay trailer was released along with the announcement, which can be seen here. On the PlayStation Blog, Activision Lead Writer James Mattone stated that It's About Time will be a true successor to the franchise's original trilogy. The game will pick up where Crash Bandicoot: Warped left off. Neo Cortex and Dr. N. Tropy have escaped from their penitentiary, and now it is up to Crash and his sister Coco to travel across time and space to stop them from taking over the multiverse.

It's About Time will keep the 3D platforming that the original titles were known for, which can be seen in the game's trailer. Despite this, It's About Time will feature a new art style new gameplay mechanics, and the ability to switch between Modern and Retro modes. Gamers will now be able to utilize a number of new platforming tricks, such as wall running, rail grinding, and rope swinging.

It's About Time will also feature the Quantam Masks, which are four guardians of space and time that will grant Crash and Coco powers that will allow them to bend the rules of reality. Two of the masks have been revealed so far. The first is Kupuna-Wa, the Time Mask. With this mask, players will be able to slow down time to pull off precise movements. The other mask is Ika Ika, the Gravity Mask. The mask will allow Crash and Coco to platform upside down, breaking the rules of physics. These masks will grant players new powers and abilities that will allow a wider variety of challenges as the game progresses.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will release on October 2nd. Those who preorder the game will receive the Totally Tubular Skins for both Crash and Coco.
