PlayStation Plus has turned 10, and we also now know which games members will be able to download in July.
On the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that PlayStation Plus has been going on for 10 years. To celebrate, a free PlayStation 4 theme will be released later this week. The theme will be available on the PlayStation Store for a limited time. Sony will also be hosting a free online multiplayer weekend starting on July 4th at 12:01 a.m. and ending on July 5th at 11:59 p.m. local time. There will also be three games available for PlayStation Plus members to download this month to celebrate the service's 10th anniversary rather than the normal two.
The first game that will be available through PlayStation Plus this month is Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. In Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara uncovers an ancient mystery that puts her at odds with a ruthless organization known as Trinity. Lara races to find a powerful and sought-after artifact before Trinity, leading her to a myth about the Lost City of Kitezh. Lara knows that she must reach the Lost City and its secrets before Trinity does.
The second game that service members will have access to is NBA 2K20. In NBA 2K20, players will take their skills to the next level, with the game featuring an upgraded motion engine with signature styles. NBA 2K20 features advanced shooting controls, a new dribble size-up system, refined off-ball collisions, as well as a new read and react defensive game.
This month's bonus game is Erica. Erica merges high-fidelity Hollywood production values with engaging gameplay. Players take the role of Erica, a young woman who is plagued with nightmares of her father's murder. The traumatic events that haunted her as a child have resurfaced into the light of present-day through new clues. It is up to the player to find the truth behind the death of Erica's father. The player's choice will form how the game develops, with multiple endings awaiting players.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, NBA 2K20, and Erica will all be available through PlayStation Plus starting on July 7th, and will stick around until August 3rd.
