Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Has Earned An Unexpected Fan

It’s no secret that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the best games of the year, but now it’s earned the attention of someone much more unexpected: Emmanuel Macron, the president of France.

Developer Sandfall Interactive made a post on Instagram celebrating the game’s first week of release, and Macron replied to congratulate the team on 1 million sales.

Sandfall Interactive themselves are French, which is why President Macron of all people is responding to their post.

‘A Shining Example Of French Audacity’

The original bilingual post thanks the players of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and says, “What a pleasure it’s been to see players from all over the world experiencing the game.”

They end with, translated, “We are proud to share this adventure with you.”

President Macron writes, translated from French, “A million copies sold and to date, one of the highest-rated games in history: and yes, it’s French!”

Sandfall’s response to such high praise was simply the baguette emoji.

After selling 500,000 copies in its first 24 hours, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 went on to swiftly pass the 1 million sales milestone despite also being available on Game Pass and some stiff competition from Oblivion Remastered....
