Insiders Say Grand Theft Auto 6 Was Never Going To Make 2025 Release Window

The gaming world has been rocked by the news of Grand Theft Auto 6 being delayed to 2026, but industry insiders are reporting that no one at Rockstar was expecting the game to hit its initial 2025 release window.

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive have been promising that Grand Theft Auto 6 would launch in Fall 2025. The lack of a solid release date meant that the industry was standing still, as no one wanted to risk launching a game next to the new Grand Theft Auto.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed to May 26, 2026. While many are surprised at the delay, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has posted on BlueSky that no one working on the game expected it to hit the 2025 release.
