"Asking For 30 Hours Of Story Content I Think Is Extreme": Subnautica 2 Lead Responds To Fans Saying Its Story Won't Be Long Enough

Subnautica 2's design lead, Anthony Gallegos, has revealed that the game is aiming for around 15 hours of story content and defended that length to players who think the game will end up being too short.

Following its reveal all the way back in 2022, we've not heard all that much about Subnautica 2 over the past few years, with the developers keeping quiet and working hard on the long-awaited sequel. That's started to change over the past few days, however, with a release window confirmed and more details revealed through a brand-new trailer.

No survival game has come even close to besting Subnautica.

Alongside those reveals, the developers of Subnautica 2 have recently taken to the game's Discord to answer a variety of questions from fans about the game. Some of the tidbits we've learned recently include the lack of any weapons, the fact that Leviathans are unkillable, and even a note about the sequel's intended amount of story content.
