Just one day after it was announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 would miss its original Fall 2025 launch window and instead be delayed into 2026, fans have concocted a new theory. Bear in mind, immediately following the delay, fans began airing out their frustrations, with many saying their hype had died.

As first shared by a GTA 6 fan on Twitter, the new date for the next entry in the franchise, May 26, 2026, also happens to be the anniversary of the funeral of Bonnie & Clyde — the infamous early 1900s criminal couple, largely known for their bank robberies and other escapades.
Now, why is this important? Well, some believe — and there is good evidence — that the story in GTA 6 will be Rockstar's own take on the real-life Bonnie & Clyde. The first and only trailer hinted as much, helping add to that existing theory.
