Nintendo Sues Peripheral Maker Genki Over Early Switch 2 Mockups

While Nintendo is still embroiled in a lawsuit against Palworld creator Pocketpair, the company behind Mario is now suing another video game company, and this time, it's an accessory maker.

Nintendo is suing Genki, a video game accessory maker, and it's all because of the Switch 2, which the peripheral company showed off a mockup of the console ahead of its official reveal.

Nintendo Says Genki Violated Its Switch 2 Trademarks

In case you didn't know, Genki showed a 3D-printed mockup of the Switch 2 at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, where the accessory-maker was using it to showcase its products for the upcoming console.

In response to this, Nintendo has now filed a lawsuit against Human Things, the parent company of Genki, in a California court. According to Nintendo, Genki has violated its trademarks, and even disclosing confidential info about the design and features of the Switch 2.

Nintendo also wasn't happy with the "Genki Direct" the accessory maker scheduled the same day as the Switch 2 Direct. "Genki’s claims of compatibility would be impossible to guarantee without unauthorized, illegal early access to the Nintendo Switch 2. Thus, Genki has misled and is misleading the public...
