There's no denying that Marvel Rivals has eaten Overwatch 2's lunch. Despite saying they're not competing, and that there's enough room for both of them in the industry, there's been a marked migration of players towards the NetEase hero shooter. If you've been following the progress of both games, the reasons are pretty clear.

Overwatch 2 needs a competitor, not an executioner.

While Marvel Rivals fans are eating well, what with the balanced gameplay, rich content roadmap, and devs that listen to the community, Overwatch fans probably can't help but feel envious – I know I would. In fact one fan had enough and decided to improve Overwatch 2 themselves, by turning it into Marvel Rivals.

As spotted by Kotaku, one Overwatch 2 player decided to use Overwatch 2's custom game workshop to turn it into NetEase's smash hit. Overwatch fans are probably familiar with Javofo – a creator that uses workshop mode to make fun alterations to the game. Upon numerous requests to turn Overwatch 2 into Marvel Rivals, they decided to give it a go, and did a fairly good job.
